NYC is in need of adapting its neighborhoods to become more climate positive. This includes needing to better integrate nature back into the urban fabric to achieve more sustainable and resilient outcomes. The challenge though is that there is not enough coherent data available in NYC to truly map biodiversity, making it a challenge to plan and design for ecological systems. This session will explore how NYC approaches mapping our natural areas, understand where the gaps are, and discuss how we can get the information needed to build the datasets needed to achieve transforming our neighborhoods into places for biodiversity.

This session has been organized by APA New York Metro Technology Committee, Urban Design Forum, and BetaNYC
